The Hinterweg farm, which consists of four houses, is located on the outskirts of the town of Burscheid, northeast of Hilgen .

In Hinterweg is the highest point of the Burscheider urban area. It is 251 meters above sea ​​level and is in close proximity to the city limits of Wermelskirchen.

The court was first mentioned in 1378. In this document, a Gerhard van Waldenberg named Schynkerl confesses to having received the court on the "Henterweg" in the parish of Burscheid from Godart van Loen, Herr zu Heinsberg, as a man's fief . In 1384, the Altenberg monastery bought the Hinterwegen farm with the forest called the "Trappynberch" from Pilgrim von Waldenberg for 368 marks in Cologne . It sealed his father Pilgrim and the mayor to Burscheid. In 1393, Duke Wilhelm von Berg exempts the possessions belonging to Altenberg Monastery from the duties and charges to be paid from them, with the exception of the Huns Office.

In 1813 the size of the estate is given as 73 acres of arable land and 58 acres of forest. Of these, the house and 19 acres are expressly referred to as being in the canton of Wermelskirchen . In 1820, Peter Johann Faßbender on the Leyen bought the estate from the royal Prussian domain administration; it was described as 63 acres. In 1891, brandy distiller Otto Pfeiffer sold the distillery built in the country to Hermann Rübenstrunck .
