Hiroaki Mizutani

Hiroaki Mizutani ( Japanese 水 谷 浩 章 , Mizutani Hiroaki ; * 1963 in Saitama Prefecture ) is a Japanese jazz musician ( double bass , electric bass ).

Hiroaki Mizutani worked in the Japanese jazz scene from the 1990s; The first recordings were made in 1992 with the flautist Tamami Koyake ( Lady's Blues ). In the following years he played a. a. with Shoji Aketagawa , the Kōichi Matsukaze Trio ( A Day in Aketa , 1994), in the formation LowBlow - (Album Cafe Ojisan ( カ フ ェ お じ さ ん ; 1997), with Masakuni Takeno , Kenichi Matsumoto , Taisei Aoki , Ryoichi Saito and Akira ) as well as in the band Tipographica (with Osamu Matsumoto , Naruyoshi Kikuchi , Tsuneo Imahori , Akira Minakami , Akira Sotoyama), which moved stylistically between prog rock and free jazz and with whom he recorded four albums. In the 2000s he was also with Hiroshi Minami , in the Trio Phonolite (with Sadanori Nakamure , Akira Sotoyama) and Otomo Yoshihide's New Jazz Ensemble and its New Jazz Quintet in the recording studio.
