At the beginning of his sports career, Takizawa was an alpine ski racer , but no major successes were achieved. In 1990 he was a participant in the Junior World Championship . In 1996, Takizawa switched to freestyle skiing, initially in the mogul slope disciplines. He made his debut in the World Cup on December 6, 1997 in Tignes . In February 1999 he was able to classify himself twice in the points, with places 29 and 30 in Madarao ( Myōkō ) and Inawashiro . In August 2001 Takizawa temporarily returned to alpine ski racing and competed in it until August 2004.
Takizawa made his successful debut as a ski crosser at the Winter X Games 2001 when he won the gold medal in the UltraCross discipline. On November 30, 2002 he took part in the first ski cross world cup race in history in Tignes and finished in 8th place. The first podium followed in January 2003 and on March 12, 2003 he won his first World Cup race in Les Contamines . So he decided the ski cross discipline for himself, in the overall world cup he was fifth. In the winter of 2003/04 Takizawa stood on the podium four times (including a win), which was enough for fourth place in the discipline classification. The following season 2004/05 he had to break off prematurely after a third place due to injury.
The following 2005/06 season was dedicated to reconnecting to the top of the world. In 2007 he won his third (and so far last) World Cup race; there was also a second place, which resulted in third place in the discipline ranking. In 2008 and 2009 he was regularly placed in the top 10, but there were no other podium places - with the exception of the Winter X Games 2009, where he won the silver medal in the ski cross competition. In 2010, a 15th place was his best World Cup result, but he qualified for the Winter Olympics . At the Olympic race in Cypress Mountain , he finished 29th.
