Hiroyuki Abe ( Japanese 阿 部 浩 之 Abe Hiroyuki ; born July 5, 1989 in Nara , Nara Prefecture ) is a Japanese football player who has been under contract with the Japanese first division club Gamba Osaka since 2012 .

Career

Born in the city of Nara , Hiroyuki Abe began his career as a football player, first in elementary school and later at Osaka-Tōin High School, with which he took part in the Prince Takamado Cup in 2007 . In 2009 he moved to Kwansei Gakuin University and played with the university team in the Kansai Soccer League until 2011 . In 2009 Abe first took part in the Imperial Cup, but lost in the first round against Branches Kanazawa . In 2010 he was appointed to the squad of the Japanese U-21 national team for the 2010 Toulon tournament, in which he was used in all three group matches.

His success with the university team in 2011 aroused the interest of some J. League clubs, including Vissel Kobe . Finally, before the start of the 2012 season, Abe moved to Gamba Osaka in the J. League Division 1 . He made his debut on March 10, 2012 in the 3-2 defeat by Vissel Kobe. In his first season he came there to 18 league appearances, in which he scored two goals. He was also used in the cup competitions Kaiserpokal and J. League Cup . In the 2012 AFC Champions League he scored one goal in two games. The league season closed the club in 17th place in the table, which he had to relegate to the second-rate J. League Division 2 . Under the new coach Kenta Hasegawa Abe then got more playing time and stood in a total of 30 games on the field. With his five goals, he contributed to Gamba as a champion, the direct return to the J. League Division 1.

In the following J. League season Abe ran in 30 of 34 league games and was able to achieve seven goals; he was the club's third top scorer. Towards the end of the year he was able to celebrate the national triple with Gamba Osaka , consisting of winning the championship, the J. League Cup and the Kaiser Cup. In February 2015, a 2-0 win against the Urawa Red Diamonds resulted in winning the Supercup .
