History and architecture

The building was erected in 1867 according to plans by the diocesan master builder Arnold Güldenpfennig . After serious construction defects occurred, the tower was first demolished and an annex was added in its place from 1942 to 1947; The plans were probably made by the Paderborn cathedral builder Kurt Matern (1884–1968). The old church was demolished in 1952, only the entrance building remained, which became the new chancel.

The new church was built from ashlar masonry from 1952 to 1953 under the direction of Kurt Matern. The window openings are set in stone . The tower with a transverse gable roof stands on the south side. The southern portal extension looks low. The building is a hall church with narrow side aisles, which are separated by pointed arcades on rectangular pillars. The wooden ceiling with transoms is sloping flat. The vaulted choir and the nave are separated by a pointed arch . The walls are divided by pointed arch and segmented arched windows. A three-part gable window can be seen over the rear gallery . Bernhard Gohla equipped the back wall of the chancel with figurative representations in sgraffito and mosaic . Otto Peters made the glass windows in the ship in 1953. In 1989 the Winkelmann workshop renewed the tabernacle, altar and ambo.
