The Hocheck-Schutzhaus is a refuge in Lower Austria near the municipal border between Furth an der Triesting and Altenmarkt an der Triesting . It stands just below the summit of the Hocheck at an altitude of 1030 m above sea level. A. and is operated by the ÖTK headquarters in Vienna. Immediately behind the shelter is the Meyringer-Warte .
history
Klein-Mariazell's landowner, Dr. Jacob Rappaport, the opening took place on July 10, 1881. In 1911 the refuge was built or expanded. The costs for this amounted to 13,000 crowns . The building was probably destroyed during the war and was rebuilt in 1947.
A few months after the toll road was closed, the shelter was closed at the end of 2016. After an interruption of almost one and a half years, it was reopened on April 28, 2018.
Approaches
In the snow-free time, the Hocheck can be reached from Furth via an asphalt toll road. After the road was closed for more than a year and a half since July 1, 2016, it has been open again since April 28, 2018.

- from Furth via the Krennweg, walking time 1½ to 2 hours
- from Kaumberg via Höfnergraben, walking time about 3 hours
- from Thenneberg over the Wildenauerbrunnen, walking time about 2 hours
- from Altenmarkt via Wieshofersteig and Wildenauerbrunnen, walking time about 2 hours
- from Taßhof over the Kienberg, walking time about 2 hours
- from Weißenbach via Eberbach, walking time about 3 hours
Transitions
- to the Burgstüberl on the Araburg , walking time about 4 hours
- to the Enzianhütte on the Kieneck , long ridge path with numerous peaks, walking time 5 to 6 hours
