history

The name Hain used to mean residence, from which the name Haina was derived. The hamlet was founded around 1100 AD; at that time it comprised four courtyards. The Gosselshausen settlement was called a desert in the 15th century . Up until the early modern era , Hof Haina was a crossroads between "Alte Marburger Strasse" and Wagenstrasse (Wayn). The Haina farm was an unwinding and pre-tensioning area for horse-drawn vehicles . In 1908 the Haina farm was supplemented with the fifth farm. Gisela Kraft-Schneider ran a farm museum until her death in 2009 , which is still run by her descendants today. A 6000 year old arrowhead was found in the place around 1980 .
