The Hofbrauhaus Heinrich Brüne was a small private brewery in Bad Arolsen in northern Hesse . The Arolser Hofbrauhaus is probably the oldest brewery in Hessen . The beginnings go back to the Middle Ages.

history

In 1131 Gepa von Itter founded the Aroldessen Monastery with her three daughters . According to tradition, they made a vow not to eat solid food during Lent . It can be assumed that shortly after the monastery was founded, they brewed a nutritious beer, a "liquid bread". In 1526, after the Reformation , the Aroldessen Monastery was abolished ( secularized ). The inventory of a brewery and bakery is mentioned for the first time in the inventory of the transferred goods . The Counts of Waldeck built their summer residence next to the court brewery . After 1719 the former monastery buildings were demolished to enable the new Arolser Castle to be built. In 1731 the brewery was converted into a monastery brewery. The Waldeck princes leased the brewing and jug rights for the first Arolser restaurant in the Hofbrauhaus, from which the authorization for the further use of the prefix Hof is derived to this day. From 1879 the brewery operated under the name Hofbräuhaus F. Gallenkamp . The tenants changed several times over the decades. In 1890 Heinrich Brüne sen. from Külte the Hofbrauhaus. After a twenty year lease, he bought the brewery in 1910. The brewery has been operating under its current name Hofbrauhaus Heinrich Brüne KG since 1950 .

The brewery was run by the fourth generation until 2013. In autumn 2013 the brewing business was stopped, the beer for the inn is made by the brewery Allersheim using the contract brewing process.
