The Hofsá í Vopnafirði is a river in northeast Iceland .

The Hofsá is the outflow of the lake Sænautavatn and flows after 85 km at Vopnafjörður into the Greenland Sea . On the way it takes in the waters of numerous smaller rivers. As soon as it has left the Jökuldalsheiði , it flows through the Hofsárdalur and finally flows into the southern Vopnafjarðarbotn .

The Hofsá is a popular salmon river, u. a. with Prince Charles of the United Kingdom . Between 600 and over 2000 salmon per year have been caught there in recent years .
