Hohleborn is a district of flea Seligenthal in Schmalkalden-Meiningen in Franconia dominated south of the Free State of Thuringia .

The district is located on the uphill and winding state road 1026 on the southwestern roof of the Thuringian Forest north of Floh under the Kaiserkopf and Mönchsstein , two peaks of the mountain range. Struth-Helmershof and Seligenthal lie to the south - east.
history
The district of Hohleborn was first mentioned in a document in 1340. The place belonged to the office of Schmalkalden of the completely Hessian rule Schmalkalden from 1583 . In 1683 Hohleborn was partially destroyed by a flood. In 1714 a school was built. In 1871 a bridge was built after another flood. In 1890 Hohleborn was connected to the railway. In 1894 a new school hall was built. The school was closed in 1977, and since then students from Hohleborn have been going to school in Floh .
On June 1, 1994, Floh, Seligenthal and Hohleborn merged to form the new municipality of Floh-Seligenthal.
