Holger Crafoord

Holger Crafoord ( pronunciation : [ ˌhɔlːgəɹ ˈkrafːɔɖ ], * July 25, 1908 in Stockholm , † May 21, 1982 ) was a Swedish industrialist.

After training as an economist, he started his career at the packaging company Åkerlund & Rausing and Tetra Pak . In 1964 he founded the Gambro company in Lund , where the artificial kidney developed by Nils Alwall was brought to market maturity. In order to found the company, Crafoord sold his shares in both of his companies to his business partner Ruben Rausing .

The Crafoord Prize he donated is named after him .
