Holger Hanselka

Holger Hanselka (born November 4, 1961 in Oldenburg ) is a German mechanical engineer and university professor . Hanselka has been President of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology since October 2013 .

Career

Hanselka studied mechanical engineering at the Clausthal University of Technology . After completing his studies, he started working as a research assistant at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in 1988 . In 1992 he received his doctorate from Clausthal University of Technology, whereupon he was responsible for various research projects at DLR with a focus on adaptronics . He also founded various companies during this time.

In 1997 he received a professorship at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg at the chair for adaptronics. Four years later, in 2001, he moved to the Technical University of Darmstadt , where he became head of the “System Reliability and Machine Acoustics ” department. At the same time he became head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability (Fraunhofer LBF). From October 2006 Hanselka was also a member of the Presidium of the Fraunhofer Society ; later, in 2011, he was also appointed Vice President of the TU Darmstadt.

In October 2013, Hanselka moved to the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), where he has been President since then. In 2018 he was confirmed in office for a further six years. At the same time, Hanselka held the position of Vice President for the Energy Research Area at the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers. V. inside. Hanselka is also a member of the German Academy of Science and Engineering (Acatech) .
