Holger Raasch

Holger Raasch (* in Quedlinburg ) is a former German diplomat who was last consul general in Toronto from 2007 to 2009 .

Life

After the Abitur studied Raasch 1966-1970 Law and was after the First Legal State Examination 1971 to 1975 in the legal Vorbereitsdienst before 1975 he passed his second state examination.

In 1975 he joined the Foreign Service and, after completing his career test for the higher civil service, was employed at the Foreign Office in Bonn in 1977 and then between 1978 and 1981 at the Embassy in Zaire . He was then permanent representative of the Consul General in Detroit from 1981 to 1983 and then a consultant at the Foreign Office in Bonn, before being employed at the embassy in Norway between 1986 and 1989 .

Raasch was then deputy head of department in the Foreign Office from 1989 to 1993 and was then on leave until 1997 to work for the SPD . After his subsequent return to the Foreign Office, he was first Head of Division between 1998 and 2000 and then Head of Department in the Foreign Office between 2000 and 2006 and most recently legal advisor to the Foreign Office until 2007.

2007 Holger Raasch as successor to the retiring came Klaus Rupprecht General in Toronto and held this position until his retirement and replacement by Sabine Sparwasser year of 2009.

On October 22, 2009, on the occasion of the presentation of the “German Canadian Congress 2009 Heritage Award” to Aksel Rinck , he signed the “Golden Book” of the city of Nördlingen .
