Dutch street
The Dutch Street is a street in Kassel . It runs through the district of North Holland and is the most important arterial road to the north. It begins in the south at Holländischer Platz . In the neighboring town of Vellmar it continues under the same name. It is part of federal highways 7 and 83 . Around 2500 people live directly on the street, making Holländische Straße the most densely populated street in the northern districts of the city.
history
The predecessor was the Dutch Post Road , an extension of the Via Regia and an important trading route of the Middle Ages and early modern times. Around 1700 this traffic was shifted to the previous Mittelgasse or Müllergasse. This was expanded and renamed "Holländische Straße".
The numerous gardens along the street gave way to large industrial companies during industrialization, such as the gas preparation plant or the Wegmann & Co. wagon factory . Due to the proximity to the factories, houses for workers and employees were also built along the street. The Theodor Ebeling dye works was also among the companies.
Since the growing motorization of traffic in the 1950s, the Holländische Straße has been an important arterial road to the north, which is heavily frequented during rush hour. Attempts to abolish the multi-lane system also fail because of this.

The street begins at Holländischer Platz and runs north-west. The Holländischer Platz campus of the University of Kassel is located at Holländischer Platz . At the confluence of Mombachstrasse, the Philipp-Scheidemann-Haus is located on the east side , the square in front of it is named Henner-Piffendeckel-Platz , named after the pseudonym Philipp Scheidemann , under which he published in vernacular. To the west of it, between Holländischer Strasse, Mombachstrasse and the main cemetery, is Halitplatz , named after Halit Yozgat , who was murdered in 2006. The Nordstadtstadion is located on the Struthbachweg. Bombardier's locomotive works are located at the confluence of the Schenkebier Stanne.
