The Holstenhallen are a trade fair and event center in Neumünster in Schleswig-Holstein . They are the largest exhibition center in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein and one of the best-known event locations in northern Germany.

Operation and infrastructure

The Holstenhallen are managed together with the Neumünster town hall by Holstenhallen Neumünster GmbH . The entire complex consists of several interconnected halls.

Hall 1 of the Holstenhallen
  • Hall 1: The building, still popularly known today as the Holstenhalle , formed the cornerstone of the exhibition grounds. The hall offers a capacity for approx. 5,000 people on an area of ​​3800 m².
  • Hall 2: 850 m² floor space, approx. 900 people capacity.
  • Halls 3 and 4: each 1200 m² floor space.
  • Hall 5: 3550 m² floor space, approx. 5000 people capacity.
  • Hall 6: Animal auction hall with attached stables, approx. 800 people capacity.
  • Forum: The forum, completed in 2015, has a floor area of ​​1,550 m² and connects Halls 1 and 2 with Halls 3, 4 and 5.
  • Foyer North: The "old" main entrance to Hall 1 has a floor area of ​​600 m².
  • West Foyer: This foyer is also located directly in Hall 1 and has a floor area of ​​215 m².
  • East Foyer: The main entrance to Halls 3, 4 and 5 has a floor area of ​​450 m².
  • Foyer South: The main entrance to the restaurant and Hall 2 has an event area of ​​100 m².
  • Restaurant: The restaurant has an event area of ​​760 m².

The restaurant of the same name attached to the Holstenhallen is responsible for the catering of the various events. At the same time, it can also be used separately for events.

history

The Holstenhalle (now Hall 1) was designed and built in 1939 as a cattle auction hall, but was used for aircraft assembly in the course of the Second World War. After the end of the war, the Holstenhallen were modernized and expanded. Today Hall 1 is entered in the list of cultural monuments in Neumünster .

Events

Many different events take place in the Holstenhallen. In addition to the classic trade fair events and cattle shows, there are classic concerts (e.g. as part of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival ), pop concerts and sporting events. There are also other equestrian tournaments, trade fairs and auctions and also a large number of sports (local soccer tournaments or, as in 2005, the German Judo Championship for young people) and various dance events (Ball des Sports, Abi -Parties of local schools).
