The Holzbach is a 7 km long orographically right tributary of the Ehrbach in Rhineland-Palatinate , Germany . Contrary to the stationing of the Rhineland-Palatinate water management authority , the creek from the mouth of the Simmersbach is named as Kobelsbach in the topographic map 1: 25,000.

The Holzbach rises about 350 m south of Mermicherhof at an altitude of 449  m above sea level. NN . It initially flows primarily in a north-westerly direction. At the mouth of the Simmersbach , its course turns to the southwest. After about a kilometer further along the river, the stream flows out at 265  m above sea level. NN in the Ehrbach . The mouth is about 1.5 km south of Buchholz .

On its 7 km long path, the stream overcomes a difference in altitude of about 184 m, which corresponds to a mean bed gradient of 26.3 ‰. It drains a 11.695 km² catchment area via Ehrbach, Moselle and Rhine to the North Sea .
