About this picture

Halsenbach is a municipality in the Rhein-Hunsrück district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Hunsrück-Mittelrhein community .

geography

The village of Halsenbach is located northeast of Emmelshausen on the Hunsrück plateau . The Hunsrückhöhenstrasse runs east of the village . The districts of Halsenbach are Ehr, Ehrerheide and Mermicherhof.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1241 under the name Halstinbach .

Until the end of the 18th century, Halsenbach belonged to the Gallscheider court , which was subordinate to the Trier Oberamt Boppard .

According to the Trier fire book , there were a total of 18 subjects in Halsenbach in 1563 , who belonged to five different landlords: nine to Kurtrier, three to the Schöneck rule, two to the Electoral Palatinate , two to the Waldeck rule and two to the Eltz rule .

After the occupation of the Left Bank of the Rhine (1794) by French revolutionary troops , the place belonged from 1798 to 1814 to the arrondissement of Koblenz ( canton Boppard ), which was assigned to the Rhine-Moselle department . Due to the agreements made at the Congress of Vienna (1815), the region was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia . Under the Prussian administration the community Halsbach 1816 came to the district Sankt Goar in Koblenz , Halsbach was the seat of the same name mayoralty . The municipality has been part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946 .

In the northern district there was an Iron Age burial ground that was discovered during the construction of the A 61 motorway (Ludwigshafen-Koblenz) near the Fleckertshöhe in a wooded area (in the deer drift) and excavated in 1971. It is a small group of burial mounds consisting of 13 individual mounds. The burial mounds are aligned with a path that runs over the Hunsrück or the Rhine Heights and was expanded in Roman times. In some cremations, the burial mound was heaped directly over the charred pyre. The notable additions to these graves include an openwork belt hook and an iron belt ring. The preserved pottery, including a clay bottle made on the turntable, shows the burial mound field in the younger Hunsrück-Eifel culture (HEK IIA to IIB) or in the second quarter of the 5th to the first half of the 3rd century BC. Chr.
