The Holzraslinge or Baumraslinge ( Hypsizygus ) are a small group (dead-) holzbewohnender mushrooms , the ordinary, ground-dwelling Raslingen and wood-dwelling pleurotte very close are habitual. From a taxonomic point of view, the wood rasp was therefore previously assigned to the rasp ( Lyophyllum ) or the oyster ( Pleurotus ). They can be easily distinguished from the Seitlingen by the barely falling lamellae.

In Japan, the beech rasp ( H. tessulatus ) called Buna-Shimeji (Buna = curb beech ) is a very popular edible mushroom . Since the distribution of the edible elm rasp ( H. ulmarius ) has decreased significantly in recent years, it should no longer be collected.
