Homero Serís

Homero Serís (born January 12, 1879 in Granada , † January 26, 1969 in New York ) was a Spanish philologist .

Serís studied philosophy and literature in Spain. He was associated with the Institución Libre de Enseñanza and taught in Europe and the United States. Until 1953 he was professor of philology at Syracuse University , where he founded and headed the Hispanic Institute. He was also Vice President of the Hispanic Society of America .

In his writings Serís deals particularly with Miguel de Cervantes . The Centro Hispanoamericano de Investigación en História y Genealogía 'Homero Serís' is named after him.
