Honoré Vaillancourt

Honoré Vaillancourt (born November 25, 1892 in Montreal , † January 25, 1933 there ) was a Canadian singer (baritone).

Vaillancourt's musical and acting talent was already evident at the Collège de St-Jean , where he studied solfège . He then took singing lessons from Arthur Laurendeau , Salvator Issaurel , Albert Roberval and Jeanne Maubourg . In 1916 he made his debut at Monument National as Jean in Victor Massé's opera Les noces de Jeannette and then appeared in leading roles in Bizet's Carmen , Gounod's Faust , Mileille and La Basoche , Delibes ' Lakmé , Massenets Thaïs , Donizetti's La fille du régiment , in the USA and Canada Messagers Véronique and La Basoche and Thomas ' Mignon .

In 1921 he founded the Société canadienne d'opérette, which he headed from 1924 to 1933 as manager and artistic director. Between 1923 and 1933 he produced numerous performances with the company, which dissolved a few months after his sudden death, in which he also participated as a singer. Some of Vaillancourt's recordings from the 1910s have been preserved on the Columbia Records label .
