Hooman Khalatbari (born April 16, 1969 in Tehran ) ( هومن خلعتبری) is an Iranian pianist and conductor .

Life

Khalatbari received his first piano lessons at the age of six . He first studied musicology, piano and graduated from the Tehran University of Art in 1996. From 1988 to 1996 he was assistant to the Tehran Philharmonic Choir and the Tehran Philharmonic Orchestra, from 1993 to 1996 also assistant to the BCC choir and orchestra and the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra at the Austrian Cultural Institute (ÖKI) in Tehran. From 1997 to 2006 he studied choir, orchestra and opera conducting at the Graz University of Art .

Khalatbari attended various master classes with Zubin Mehta , Iván Fischer and Thomas Christian David, among others .

During his studies he dealt with contemporary music. He has worked as a conductor, soloist, chamber musician, song accompanist and répétiteur in various television and CD productions and world premieres (“Schwarzerde” by Klaus Huber in the Basel Theater, “Dry Clean Show” by Wolfgang Mitterer at the Styrian Autumn in Graz and "Pollicino" by Hans Werner Henze , "Agleia Federweiß" by Gerd Kühr , "Peter Pan" by Wilfried Hiller and "Noahs Flut" by Benjamin Britten in Next Liberty in Graz). His concert appearances have also taken him to several European cities, the USA, Canada and Asia. Most recently he was engaged as a conductor in Paris, London and Vancouver.

Since the 1999/2000 season he has worked in productions at the Graz Opera House and the Singschule, such as Verdi's La traviata , Puccini's La Bohème , Donizetti's Die Favoritin , Humperdinc's Hansel and Gretel , Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story , Frederick Loewe's My Fair Lady and Mozart's Die Magic flute .

From 1999 to 2002 he worked as a musical assistant, second conductor and choir conductor at the “Festival of Young Artists Graz”. Since 2003 he has been the musical director of the opera productions of the "International Classical Festival" in Kirchstetten Castle in Lower Austria .
