Hoope
Hoope is the name of several places in Lower Saxony .
The origin of the name is unclear. Obvious would be a derivation from Low German Hoop , d. H. elevated point in the moor. Against this interpretation, however, speaks that some of the Hoope settlements are located in geest landscapes . Another explanation is that originally several farms stood close together, in Low German "up en hoop" ("on a heap"). All the settlements with the name Hoope were originally hamlets , which emerged from the accumulation of a few farms outside of existing villages. None of the settlements is an independent municipality today .
