Life

Horacio Rentería Rocha was born in 1912 in Victoria de Durango in the Mexican state of Durango into a simple family. As a child, Horacio painted landscapes, portraits and children on faded house walls with lime, brick dust and burnt coal. He received his bachelor's degree from Juárez University in Durango. In the course of time his works became known beyond the borders of Mexico. The small-format series “Children” in particular, in which magnificently dressed boys and girls were idealized in a lyrical setting, met with approval in the metropolises of France and the USA. Today these oil paintings with children's motifs are exhibited in international galleries. The composition of figures with regional landscape beauties occurs frequently.

Horacio's works are traded worldwide. The most famous collectors include actor Henry Fonda , fashion designer Christian Dior , English-American conductor Leopold Stokowski and former US President Lyndon B. Johnson . The children's motifs of Mexican cultural symbols are particularly popular in the USA. In the state of Florida, a traditional immigration country for Latinos, the works are very popular.

Horacio's works have been exhibited in museums such as the Louvre in Paris, the Museo del Prado in Madrid and the National Museum of Art in Mexico . The most valuable paintings are traded between one and three million US dollars on the North and South American art market.
