Horisont is a Swedish hard rock band from Gothenburg .

Band history

Horisont was founded in Gothenburg in 2006 around the still active members Axel Söderborg (vocals), Charles van Loo (guitar), Pontus Jordan (drums) and Magnus Delborg (bass). In addition, Kristoffer Möller was a founding member of the band as the second guitarist. The band name is Swedish for "horizon".

In 2009 her debut album Två sidor av horisonten was released on Crusher Records . In 2012, the second album, Second Assault, followed on Rise Above Records . The third work Time Warriors (2014) and Odyssey (2015) were also published there. For the latter, former Church of Misery guitarist Tom Sutton replaced founding member Kristofer Möller. The band then switched to the German label Century Media . Sutton left the band and was replaced by David Kälin.

In 2017 the fourth album About Time followed . With this, the band also managed to enter the German and Swedish album charts for the first time. They were also able to reach the German charts with their fifth album Sudden Death (2020).

Music genre

Musically, the band plays hard rock or proto-metal, as it was typical for the first phase in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Sources of inspiration are bands like Black Sabbath , Deep Purple , Cactus , Thin Lizzy , Uriah Heep and Judas Priest , as well as more blues-oriented bands like Status Quo or more progressive ones like Yes , Rush and Blue Oyster Cult . With their sound they adapted a style of music that was popularized again by similar bands in Scandinavia such as The Devil's Blood , Witchcraft or Graveyard .
