Athletic career

As an 18-year-old, Blüher played for the 1st East Zone Championship with SG Freiimfelde Halle in the summer of 1948 . In the semi-final match on June 27, 1948 against SG Meerane in front of 10,000 in Magdeburg, he achieved the interim 2-2 equalization, which was finally followed by the 5-2 victory and the move into the final. In the final held on July 4, 1948 in Leipzig, Blüher was called up as a left half-forward, but his team was defeated by SG Planitz in front of 40,000 spectators with 0: 1. In the 1948/49 season, the Halleers competed as ZSG Union, became champions in Saxony-Anhalt with Blüher and qualified again for the Eastern Zone Championship . This time too, Blüher was successful again with a goal in the semi-finals, on June 12, 1949 in the Kurt Wabbel Stadium at home in front of 20,000 spectators, he contributed the 2-0 intermediate result to the final 3-0 victory over Eintracht Stendal. On June 26, 1949 , the final opponent was Fortuna Erfurt, who was defeated 4-1 in front of 50,000 spectators in Dresden. Blüher played again as a half-left striker, but remained without a goal.

As the master of the Eastern Zone, Halle had qualified for the Oberliga , which was newly established by the German Sports Committee and is now the highest soccer league in the Soviet zone of occupation . In the first league season 1949/50 Blüher was not used, he was only called up again in the league team from 1951, which now belonged to the company sports community (BSG) Turbine Halle . In the league season 1951/52 he was again a permanent member of the player base and contributed with 24 missions in 36 played point games and three goals to the renewed championship win of the Halle. When, in connection with the suppression of the popular uprising of June 17, 1953, numerous players left the championship team to the west, Blüher was also eliminated in the course of 1953, but, unlike many of his Halle team-mates, did not reappear in higher-class football. Between 1951 and 1953 Blüher had completed 43 GDR league games in which he scored three goals.
