Horst Dreßel (also: Horst Dressel ; born February 7, 1931 in Coburg ) is a German publisher and association official .

Life

Horst Dreßel passed his Abitur in his native city of Coburg and then trained there at Vogel Verlag, which is based in Coburg and Würzburg, as a publishing clerk. He then worked for several years as an assistant to the management and as an advertising and advertising manager for various of the company's specialist magazines. With this background Dreßel moved to the VDI publishing house in Düsseldorf and went to the USA for several months from 1952 to 1953 to gain experience in the American book and magazine market. In addition to his commercial activities, Dreßel also got involved in the journalistic field from an early age.

Dreßel married in 1957. The marriage resulted in one child.

As the successor to the late Emil Engelbrecht, Dreßel took over the sole management of Schlüterschen Verlagsgesellschaft in Hanover in 1970 .

Dreßel also took on numerous honorary posts , including as a member of the board of the Association of German Magazine Publishers , the Lower Saxony Magazine Publishers Association , the Association of German Address Book Publishers and the Association of the Lower Saxony Printing Industry .

Horst Dreßel is honorary chairman of the advisory board of Schlüterschen Verlagsgesellschaft Hannover, chairman of the Heinrich Ludwig Hartmann Memorial Foundation and the Horst Dreßel Foundation named after him.

In 1979 the Hanover Marketing Academy honored Horst Dreßel with the award of the Hans Buchholz Medal . At the time, the honoree was also the managing director of a wholly-owned subsidiary of the academy, Kommunikation und Wirtschaft GmbH , based in Oldenburg. In 1992 Dreßel received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon .
