Life

Eisenlohr was born the son of a doctor and his wife. He attended the secondary schools in Pforzheim and Lahr . Eisenlohr was drafted into the Wehrmacht in 1944/45 , where he was a radio operator for the Luftnachrichtentruppe (ROB) and radio special company Ketschendorf.

After the Second World War, he completed a physics degree at the Technical University of Karlsruhe and the University of Freiburg im Breisgau ( graduate physicist). In 1952 he was mathematical Natural Sciences at the Faculty in Freiburg with a thesis Anomalous X-ray scattering radiation of heavy atoms <especially tellurium> after the wave-mechanical dispersion theory to Dr. rer. nat. PhD. In 1951/52 he was a university assistant, in 1953 he went to Siemens & Halske in Karlsruhe as a development engineer .

In 1957 he joined the armed forces as a civilian and from then on taught atomic and radiation physics at the NBC defense school in Sonthofen. From 1957 to 1962 he was head of the physics group there. In 1963 he was given leave of absence and moved to Vienna to join the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), a specialized agency of the United Nations . In 1965 he became a senior government councilor and in 1969 government director , later ministerial councilor . From 1971 to 1987 he was head of the dosimetry section there and from 1976 to 1987 co-secretary of the network of secondary standard dosimetry laboratories of the IAEA and the WHO (SSDL Network).

Eisenlohr is the author of several articles in German and English-language scientific specialist publications (including Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences , Advances in the Field of X-Rays and Nuclear Medicine , Health Physics , Journal of Physics , Medical Physics , Physics in Medicine and Biology , Radiation Therapy , International Journal of Applied Radiation and Isotopes ).

He was u. a. Member of the German Physical Society (1956), the Austrian-German Cultural Society and the Lions Club Vienna Europe (1959; President 1987/88) as well as advisory employee of the Radiology Standards Committee in the German Standards Committee .
