Horst Hagen (born January 10, 1950 in Kuhsdorf , today Groß Pankow (Prignitz) ) is a former volleyball player from the GDR .
Hagen started playing volleyball in 1965. In 1969 he moved from SC Traktor Schwerin to SC Leipzig . The 1.94 m tall player won the GDR championship from 1971 to 1976.
From 1970 he played in the GDR national team and was immediately involved in the greatest success of the GDR selection when the title was won at the 1970 World Cup in Bulgaria. After a fourth place at the European Championships in 1971 , the GDR team reached the final at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich and received the silver medal after the final defeat against the Japanese team . Hagen was also part of the GDR squad at the 1974 World Cup , which reached fourth place. In 1975 he finished seventh with the GDR selection at the 1975 European Championships .
Horst Hagen was a trained telecommunications mechanic and later became an engineer for vehicle technology. After completing his studies, he was head of the Central Office for Scientific Technology at the DHfK .
