Horst Krüger (church musician)

Horst Krüger (born June 12, 1952 in Tarmitz ) is a German cantor , organist , composer and choir director .

Life

Krüger is the son of the farmer Paul Krüger and Florentine Krüger and has a brother. In his childhood, Krüger's family first moved to Gelsenkirchen- Rotthausen , then to Westerholt and in 1962 to Gifhorn . Krüger received piano lessons from the cantor couple of the St. Nicolai Church and sang in the boys' choir of the Protestant town church in Gifhorn. He started composing at an early age. In his Baptist home parish he first played the harmonium , at the age of 14 received additional organ lessons and soon passed the D-exam in church music.

Krüger studied church music in Hanover and after three years passed the C examination and a little later the B examination as a church musician. During his military service with Heeresmusikkorp 3 in Lüneburg , he continued to rehearse with church choirs and after two years continued his studies at the Lübeck University of Music .

He then worked as a church musician in a parish in Hamburg, the pastor of which was the chairman of the Christian Singers Association, Hamburg State Association. Krüger was repeatedly invited by him for organ services, lectures and choral conducting. In October 1977 he passed the A-exam in Lübeck Cathedral with an organ concert.

From November 1977 to the end of June 2017, Krüger was federal choirmaster at the Christian Singers Association in Wuppertal .

During this time he held about 500 choir seminars and supervised singing days and evenings. There are also 200 seminars for choir leaders and 165 singing camps in Adelboden, Ahlhorn, Berlin, Borkum, Braunfeld, Buchholz, Langeoog, Schöntal, Solingen and Welschnofen and Wuppertal. He spoke about the development of Christian music in the parishes in a program of the ERF .
