Horst Lennertz

Horst Lennertz (born November 22, 1942 in Berlin ) is a German manager . He is one of the pioneers of German mobile communications .

Career

Lennertz studied electrical engineering at RWTH Aachen . He then did his doctorate as a research assistant at the Institute for High Voltage Technology and General Electrical Engineering (IFHT of RWTH Aachen University). At Brown Brown Boveri & CIE (BBC), he held management positions for over ten years, most recently as head of the high-voltage switchgear business unit. He then became a board member of Überlandwerke Nord-Hannover AG (now EWE) for the technology and electricity sector.

In 1987 Lennertz became a board member of PreussenElektra AG , Hanover (today E.ON Energie AG). Here he was responsible for the networks, IT and the establishment of the telecommunications business area. During this time, several telecommunications companies were founded. Lennertz took over the leadership of the E-Plus consortium (later E-Plus Mobilfunk GmbH).

Lennertz is co-founder of E-Plus Mobilfunk GmbH, Düsseldorf , which was the third mobile communications company in Germany to receive the license in 1993 and which was launched in 1994. Lennertz, as board member of PreussenElektra, pushed the energy company's entry into mobile communications and thus the establishment of E-Plus. Since it was founded, he has been responsible as managing director for the technology (Network, Systems & Operations), IT and regulatory issues. In 2002 the takeover by KPN Mobile NV was completed. Lennertz was appointed as a member of the Management Board of E-Plus majority shareholder KPN Mobile NV. As Chief Technical Officer (CTO), he was responsible for the network and IT activities of the entire KPN Mobile Group. a. KPN Mobile The Netherlands, KPN Orange Belgium and E-Plus in Germany belong.

In 2005 Lennertz left KPN Mobile. As one of the pioneers in the industry, he is a personal advisor to the board of KPN NV (parent company of KPN Mobile), as well as an independent management consultant in the telecommunications / IT and multimedia industry. He is also a member of the supervisory board of various national and international companies.

Lennertz is co-initiator of the Next Generation Mobile Networks Alliance (NGMN) founded in 2006 .

Lennertz was a member of the Presidium of the highest committee of the industry association, VATM (Association of Telecommunications and Value Added Services) in Cologne for around a decade .

Awards

For the successful development and management of E-Plus and KPN Mobile NV, Lennertz received the "National Leadership Award" of the Economic Forum Germany in Berlin in November 2003.
