Horst Münch (born November 17, 1951 in Nuremberg ) is a German painter , sculptor , photographer , author and video artist .

Life

Horst Münch wanted to become a painter at the age of five. In 1966 he started taking pictures and made Super 8 and 16 mm films. In 1974 he shot the film Am Kopf overheard with friends , which was shown at the 1976 Hof International Film Festival. In 1975, Münch went to the Düsseldorf Art Academy to study with Alfonso Hüppi . In 1977 the first exhibition of fabric sculptures took place at Felix Handschin Basel, in 1979 an exhibition at Alfred Schmela in Düsseldorf. After his sudden death, there was a collaboration with Rolf Ricke in Cologne and from 1983 also with Hans Strelow in Düsseldorf, who was in charge of the painting. From 1986 Philippe Casini showed his work in Paris. In 1983, Münch was awarded the Jürgen Ponto Foundation's sponsorship prize, and in 2003 the Käthe Kollwitz Prize of the Academy of Arts (Berlin) . He has lived in Cologne since 1982.

His numerous solo and group exhibitions since 1977 have been accompanied by various publications.
