Horst Sattler

Horst Sattler (born February 1, 1934 in Teutschneureut, (from 1935 Neureut (Baden), since 1975 Karlsruhe-Neureut ); † March 9, 2019 there ) was a German firefighter and fire department official .

Life

Horst Sattler trained as a bricklayer and construction technician and until his retirement he worked in the building department of the municipality of Neureut (later the local administration of Karlsruhe-Neureut) as the head of the civil engineering department.

He had dedicated his life to volunteering and the fire department .

Functionary activity

Sattler joined the Neureut volunteer fire department in 1951 . In 1955 he was given the task of setting up a fire fighting group in the Kirchfeld district and, in 1956, he was appointed adjutant to the then commandant Ludwig Ott. In February 1958, Sattler was elected secretary of the Neureut fire department. Sattler held the post of commander of the Neureut volunteer fire brigade from January 1962 until Neureut was incorporated into Karlsruhe in 1975. With the incorporation, the Neureut volunteer fire department became an independent department of the Karlsruhe fire department. Horst Sattler was department commander of the Karlsruhe-Neureut voluntary fire brigade until 1997 and its senior manager from 1999 to 2014. In 1997 he was awarded the title of Honorary Commander.

Horst Sattler campaigned for the fire brigade at a regional and supraregional level at an early stage . In 1963 he became sub-district leader "Hardt" of the communities of the Lower Hardt and in 1966 deputy district fire chief of the district of Karlsruhe . After the accidental death of the then district fire chief Rudolf Link from Palmbach , Sattler temporarily took over the duties of district fire chief from May 1968 to September 1969. From 1971 to 1975 he was deputy chairman of the district fire service association of the district of Karlsruhe. With the incorporation of Neureut into the city of Karlsruhe, Sattler had to give up all offices in the Karlsruhe district.

Afterwards, Horst Sattler continued his voluntary work in various committees of the fire brigade of the city of Karlsruhe . From 1975 he was a member of the fire brigade committee of the city of Karlsruhe and the association committee of the city fire brigade association Karlsruhe e. V. and from 1978 to 1996 its treasurer. In 2000 he was made an honorary member of the City Fire Brigade Association and senior manager of the Karlsruhe Fire Brigade. He held the latter office until 2011.

Hort Sattler has also made a name for itself on a supraregional level with its extensive specialist knowledge and commitment. From 1968 to 1972 he was a committee member of the Baden Fire Brigade Association and from 1968 to 2002 also a committee member of the Baden-Württemberg Fire Brigade Association. From 1973 he was a member of the board of the Baden-Württemberg State Fire Brigade Association, responsible for social affairs. From 1983 to 2002 he was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Gustav Binder Foundation. Due to his achievements and his commitment, he was made an honorary member of the Baden-Württemberg State Fire Brigade Association in 2001.

Promoting young talent was very important to Horst Sattler. For this reason he was a member of the board of the Baden-Württemberg youth fire brigade from 1973 to 1990 .

In the German Fire Brigade Association he was active as a delegate from 1969 to 2001.
