Horst Schulz (politician)

Horst Schulz (born September 30, 1938 in Brüx , Czechoslovakia ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Schulz was born a few days before German troops marched into the outskirts of Czechoslovakia and in 1945 he was relocated to the Soviet occupation zone . He attended high school and then the workers and peasants faculty for a year . After an apprenticeship as an electrician, he studied at the Bergakademie Freiberg , but dropped out after a year for political reasons. This was followed by an apprenticeship as a master in mechanical engineering at the Eisleben engineering school and a distance learning course at the Senftenberg engineering school and the Zittau engineering college to become an engineer for power plants.

He was senior foreman and power plant manager in the Greifswald nuclear power plant , division manager and senior construction manager in the Erfurt energy combine, and in 1990 Parliamentary State Secretary in the GDR Ministry for Media Policy.

Schulz was a member of the LDPD from 1967 to 1973 . In December 1989 he joined the Democratic Awakening . There he became regional chairman of Thuringia in January 1990 before moving to the CDU in June 1990. In that year he was a member of the last people 's chamber . After that he was a member of the Thuringian state parliament until 1994 , where he was chairman of the legal committee.
