Horst Statkus

Horst Statkus (born August 12, 1929 in Tilsit ; † April 28, 2016 in Heidelberg ) was a German theater director and dramaturge who worked for many years as artistic director in Switzerland .

Life

Statkus studied German , English , art history and theater studies in Erlangen . In 1959 he became a dramaturge and director at the Schlosstheater Celle . Two years later he moved to the Comedy Basel . In 1964 Statkus went to the Städtische Bühnen Heidelberg and in 1967 became senior director at the Braunschweig State Theater . After a two-year engagement as chief dramaturge at the Staatstheater Stuttgart (1972 to 1973), he was artistic director in Heidelberg from 1973 to 1978.

From 1978 onwards, Statkus worked mainly in Switzerland. Until 1988 he was director of the Basel Theater (city theater, comedy, theater workshop), from 1987 he was director of the Lucerne Theater until 1999 , thus managing both houses simultaneously in the 1987/88 season.

Statkus worked for many years with the choreographer Heinz Spoerli and the conductor Armin Jordan .

He was married to the actress Elke Stoltenberg.
