Horst Konrad Zuse (born November 17, 1945 in Hindelang ) is a German computer scientist .

Career and activities

Zuse is the son of the inventor of the first binary digital computer, Konrad Zuse . From April 1967 to December 1973 he studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Berlin . He completed this with a diploma in December 1973. In March 1983 he received his doctorate in engineering. in the field of software complexity measures and in December 1998 he successfully completed his habilitation at the TU Berlin ( license to teach practical computer science ). In 2006 the Lausitz University of Applied Sciences appointed him honorary professor and in 2009 professor .

He specializes in software technology and developed the Konrad Zuse Multimedia Show from 1996 to 2000 , which deals with the history of computer development. From June 1998 to September 2008 he was a private lecturer at the TU Berlin. From February 1998 to May 1998 he was visiting professor at Southwestern Louisiana University in Lafayette ( United States ); from November 2003 to November 2006 he was visiting professor at the Lausitz University of Applied Sciences. Since December 2008 he has been working mainly at the Lausitz University of Applied Sciences and continues to teach at the TU Berlin.

In 2010 Zuse completed the true-to-original replica of the Z3 designed by his father Konrad Zuse, which he carried out in cooperation with the electrical engineering company Finder . This has since been exhibited in the Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum . Together with Wilhelm Mons , Horst Zuse published two books about his father. Since March 2015 Horst Zuse has been a member of the Senate of the Deutsche Industrieforschungsgemeinschaft Konrad Zuse, named after his father .

Horst Zuse is married to a computer scientist.
