Horst von Möllendorff

Horst von Möllendorff , actually Horst Heinrich Wichard von Möllendorff (born April 26, 1906 in Frankfurt (Oder) , † December 17, 1992 in Berlin ) was a German press illustrator and caricaturist .

life and work

Von Möllendorff was a son of the Prussian captain Kurt von Möllendorff and his wife Gertrud Bothe. From his marriage to Marita geb. Jakubzik have their son Roger (* 1940) and daughter Kerstin (* 1941). Möllendorff published caricatures and joke drawings in daily newspapers. Some of them have been published in book form.

He was in 1943 or 1944 as a supplier of ideas for cheerful under the Hitler regime cartoons used, which according to the will of Propaganda Minister Goebbels should be made. The short film The Snowman , made by Hans Fischerkoesen , is based on an idea by Möllendorffs.

In the 1950s Möllendorff again had a weekly column with joke drawings in the magazine Stern .
