Horwich is a city and a civil parish in metropolitan county Greater Manchester in England with 19,312 inhabitants.
geography
Horwich is in the North West England region , between Manchester and Preston . The place is located 8.5 km southeast of Chorley , 9.3 km northwest of Bolton and 32 km northwest of Manchester on the southern edge of the West Pennine Moors . The M61 motorway passes nearby to the south and west of Horwich.
Since April 1974 it has been administered by the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton .
