The Hotel Kaiserhof is a former hotel in Detmold . It is located opposite the train station on the corner lot Hermannstraße 1 / Bahnhofstraße and has been a listed building since 2004 .
History and description
The hotel building was built in 1893/1894 in the neo-renaissance style by the Detmold architect Hermann Cuno Heufer .
From the street view, the building appears to have two wings . The southeast wing closes off from the neighboring building with a risalit with a tail gable . The northeast corner of the building protrudes on a polygonal floor plan and is provided with a tower-like roof. Between these parts of the building is the arched portal decorated with columns and stucco . The windows are predominantly round-arched , on the first floor with the exception of the risalit they are closed with triangular roofs .
The helmet-like tower top and the dormer windows have not been preserved. In 1937, an extension to the west was built on the former terrace .
