Company history

Hotel u. Cities address book

In 1895, the Poppe & Neumann publishing house was founded in Dresden by Hermann Poppe and Friedrich Neumann, which published the first edition of the international hotel and city address book. Four years later, in 1899, the first higher hotel management school was founded in Dresden, which offered distance learning courses in addition to traditional, local training . When the border was closed in 1947, the company first moved to West Berlin and later to Constance. In 1981 the headquarters of the remote hotel school was relocated to Grävenwiesbach im Taunus. The management was subsequently taken over by Christoph Ladewig, who has also been the owner since 1997. As a result of this restructuring, both business areas were finally separated and have since been operating as independent companies - the Poppe & Neumann remote hotel school based in Grävenwiesbach and HAB GmbH Konstanz, which published the hotel and city address book until 2009. Since July 1, 2009, the rights to the hotel and city address book have been owned by Schweizer Medienbotschaft Verlag & Events GmbH. In the same year, a cooperation agreement was also concluded with the IHK Frankfurt am Main and its training center.
