Howard Island is an island in the West Antarctic Palmer Archipelago . In the eastern section of the Joubin Islands , it is immediately south of Hartshorne Island .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named her in 1975 after Judson R. Howard (1923-1989), Maat on the RV Hero in the service of the National Science Foundation on their Antarctic voyage to Palmer Station in 1968.
