Hartshorne Island is an island in the West Antarctic Palmer Archipelago . In the eastern section of the Joubin Islands , it lies between Dakers Island and Howard Island .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named her in 1975 after Sidney G. Hartshorne (1911-1993), captain of the RV Hero in the service of the National Science Foundation on her Antarctic voyage to Palmer station in 1968.
