features

Hoya is an epiphytic , climbing plant with flexible, branching stems. The bare shoots and are round in cross section. The thin, leathery leaves are stalked, the bare petioles are about 1 cm long and curved. The leaf blades are elliptical to lanceolate, 6.5 to 8.5 cm long and 2.5 to 3 cm wide. The base is wedge-shaped, the apex is pointed. They are bald on both sides. The leaf nerve consists of up to 7 pairs of secondary ribs that are connected to one another like a network. The midrib is relatively unclear.

The umbellate inflorescence contains about 20 flowers. The inflorescence stalk is 4 to 8 cm long and glabrous. The thread-like flower stalks are 1.25 to 2 cm long. The sepals are bare, the edges covered with cilia. They are fused at the base. The corolla measures 14 mm in diameter. The petal tips are obovate, 6 mm long and 3.25 mm, glabrous on the outside, and hairy on the inside. The secondary crown has a diameter of 6 mm. The corolla lobes are ovate. The inner process is erect and beaked at the end, the outer process is blunt. They are concave on the top and have a longitudinal groove on the bottom. The anthers protrude above the inner processes of the corolla lobes.

Additional material is stored in the herbarium of the Research Center for Biology in Cibinong , Indonesia and in the herbarium of the University of California in Berkeley , California. This material was collected in May / June 1925 from Casiguran, Quezon Province, in the south of the island of Luzon and bears the number Ramos & Edano # 45730. Other material of this taxon was collected by McGregor in June / August 1915 in the province of Laguna, southern part of the island of Luzon.

Hoya pimenteliana Kloppenburg (1999) is said to be a synonym for Hoya cagayanensis according to Simone Merdon-Bennack. Plants of the World online lists Hoya cagayanensis and Hoya pimenteliana as valid taxa.
