The shoots attach themselves to the substrate with adhesive roots at the internodes, older shoots lignify easily. The leaves are stalked, the petioles are up to 1 cm thick and up to 1.8 cm long, and form a thick callus on the upper side of the leaf base. The leaf blades are 15 to 25 cm long and 10 to 20 cm wide. The blade is 2 to 5 mm thick, ovate to broadly heart-shaped, with a pointed apex and blunt or heart-shaped base. The leaf nerve is clearly visible and consists of 3 main veins, two secondary veins that split in the shape of a palm and a network of tertiary veins. The vegetative parts secrete a milky juice when injured.

The ball-shaped inflorescence is usually upright and contains 50 to 100 individual flowers. It has a diameter of up to about 15 cm. The inflorescence stalk is thick and 2 to 8 cm long. The yellowish-white flower stalks are about the same length with 2 cm. The reddish sepals triangular-ovate and about 1 mm long, the corolla has a diameter of 1.5 to 2.0 cm with strongly curved back. triangular corolla lobes with bent tips. The bald tips of the petals are more whitish at the base and more yellowish at the tips. The whitish secondary crown has a diameter of 8 mm and egg-shaped tips. The inner and outer processes are pointed. The pollinia are elongated with a rounded apex. The caudiculae are short and thick, and twisted. The reddish corpusculum is short. Hoya loyceandrewsiana is close with Hoya dolichosparte Schl. related, but differs in the larger leaves and the larger flowers with bare corolla.

Geographical distribution and habitat

The area of origin of the species was initially unknown, as it was described using a plant in culture whose origin could no longer be traced. In 2017, Averyanov et al. the plant in the Quảng Ngãi Province of Vietnam. They are now also known from northern Thailand. It grows there in evergreen primary, but also secondary forests in lowland areas. In its natural habitat in Vietnam, the species bloomed from October to November.

Taxonomy

The type was described using a cultivated plant whose origin was unknown at the time of the original description. Ted Green had got it from a plant collector. The type is in the herbarium of the Bishop Museum in Honolulu (Hawaii, USA) under the number BISH1016620 (holotype). An isotype is deposited in the Herbarium of the New York Botanical Garden, Bronx (New York, USA) under the number NY00991033. The first description from 1994 was invalid because no herbarium material was deposited. The name was validated in 2008.
