Hrant Bagratjan ( Armenian Հրանտ Բագրատյան; born October 18, 1958 in Yerevan ) is an Armenian economist and politician ( Freedom Party ). He was Prime Minister of Armenia for the Armenian All-National Movement from 1993 to 1996 .

biography

Bagratjan attended high school in Yerevan from 1965 to 1975. He then studied at the local university of economics until 1979 , where he completed postgraduate studies from 1982 to 1985. In between he served in the Soviet Army from 1979 to 1981.

In 1990 he became the first deputy prime minister and Minister of Economy of Armenia. He held these offices until he became Prime Minister in 1993 and remained until 1996. From 1998 to 2006 he was the vice president and director of human resources and procurement for the Yerevan Brandy Company . Since 2006 Bagratjan has been the head of the "Asatutjun" (German: freedom) party.

Bagratjan holds a PhD in economics and philosophy and is the author of 61 scientific articles and nine books.
