Hrvatska elektroprivreda ( German: Croatian Electricity Industry , HEP for short ) is a national energy company in Croatia that has been generating, transmitting and distributing electrical energy for more than a century and has been supplying district heating and natural gas for several decades . The HEP Group is organized in the form of a holding company with a number of subsidiaries.

The company is owned by the Republic of Croatia .

HEP describes itself as the oldest energy company in the field of electrical energy technology . The company was founded in 1895 with the completion of the “Jaruga” power plant in Šibenik-Knin County , the first European power plant. It was built just three days after the Edward Dean Adams Power Plant was established in Niagara Falls, New York .

Corporate structure

The parent company of the HEP Group, HEP dd, takes over the management .

The production is divided into two subsidiaries : HEP Proizvodnja doo, which deals with a large part of the generation plants, and TE Plomin doo, which is also jointly owned by the German RWE . In addition to HEP, TE Plomin doo is another operator of the Plomin power plant in the Istria County . Block 1 of the power plant is operated by HEP, Block 2 by TE Plomin doo, in which HEP and the German company RWE each hold 50%. The Plomin Holding doo develops with the TE Plomin connected, local infrastructure and entrepreneurial projects. The founder of this is Sunčana elektrana Poreč doo, the operator of the solar power plant in Poreč .

HEP is also 50% owner of the Krško nuclear power plant in neighboring Slovenia .

HEP Operator prijenosnog sustava doo (short: HEP OPS) and HEP Operator distribucijskog sustava doo (short: HEP ODS) are providers of public services for the transmission and distribution of electricity for the needs of participants in the Croatian market.

HEP ODS is also responsible for supplying tariff customers, while supplying approved customers (industry and companies) falls under the responsibility of HEP Opskrba doo .

Other business areas are: district heating ( HEP Toplinarstvo doo ), gas supply ( HEP Plin doo ), energy efficiency ( HEP ESCO doo ), environmental protection with a focus on waste management ( APO doo ), renewable energy sources ( HEP Obnovljivi izvori energije doo ), general and vocational training (HEP Nastavno-obrazovni centar) and Leisure and Recreation ( HEP Odmor i rekreacija doo ).

HEP-Telekomunikacije doo is responsible for providing internal telecommunications.
