The Huawei Mate 10 is an Android smartphone released in 2017 from the Huawei brand . It appeared in four different versions: a Pro model, a Lite model, a Porsche edition and a standard version. In Germany, however, only the Mate 10 Pro, the Mate 10 Porsche Edition and the Mate 10 lite are available. The “normal” Mate 10 is also available in most other regions. (for a detailed list, see consumer.huawei.com)
The Pro model appeared with Android 8.0 Oreo, the Lite version with Android 7.0 (update to 8.0 available) Nougat .
Mate 10 Pro
technology
The Mate 10 Pro is characterized by the special feature of an AI chip. This should be able to process tasks with artificial intelligence much faster. This chip is integrated in the processor - a Kirin 970. In addition, 6 gigabytes of RAM and a Mali-G72-MP12 graphics unit are installed.
camera
The main camera is a dual camera developed jointly with Leica Camera . One of the sensors is only black and white. This delivers monochrome recordings and enables artificial bokeh to be included in the photos. In addition, better recordings should be achieved with the AI chip.
Display
The display is a 6 " OLED display , making it the first in the Mate series. This is also the first time that this display is in 18: 9 format. It offers Full HD + resolution. The display bezels have shrunk and only make up a small part of the front.
Mate 10 lite
technology
The Mate 10 lite is the only device in the series that does not have a Kirin 970 and therefore does not have an AI chip. Instead, a Kirin 659 was installed as the processor . The graphics unit is an ARM Mali-T830 MP2. Only 4 gigabytes of RAM are installed here. Thus, the lite model is the technically weakest version of the Mate 10.
camera
The camera was not developed together with Leica on this version of the Mate 10. However, this is also a dual camera that can create an artificial bokeh. In contrast to the other models, a dual camera was also installed on the front.
Display
The Mate 10 lite is a 5.9 "IPS Full HD + display. It is only slightly smaller than that of the Pro model. It also has an 18: 9 aspect ratio and is characterized by relatively thin display bezels.
Updates and improvements
The update to Android 8 Oreo is available for the Huawei Mate 10 lite. Noteworthy innovations:
- 2D face unlock
- EMUI 8.1
- increased security
