The Huawei P40 and its derivatives Huawei P40 Lite , Huawei P40 Pro and Huawei P40 Pro + are high-end Android - smartphone from Huawei . The presentation took place on March 26, 2020, as the successor to the Huawei P30 group from the P.
Technical specifications
design
The P40 series is constructed with anodized aluminum for the frame, while the back uses Gorilla Glass on the P40 and P40 Pro or ceramic on the P40 Pro +. The display is flat on the P40 or curved on all sides on the P40 Pro and P40 Pro +; Huawei calls this a Quad-Curve Overflow Display. In the top left corner of the display is a pill-shaped cutout for the front-facing camera and environment / proximity sensors; it also houses the infrared facial recognition system on the P40 Pro and P40 Pro +. As with the P30 Pro, the P40 Pro and P40 Pro + replace the traditional earpiece speaker with an "electromagnetic levitation" speaker that vibrates the top of the phone screen and have an IR blaster on the top edge. The 3.5 mm audio jack has also been omitted from all models. A rectangular module houses the rear cameras, which protrudes slightly from the rear wall. The P40 and P40 Pro will be available in Silver Frost, Blush Gold, Deep Sea Blue, Ice White and Black, while the P40 Pro + will be available in Ceramic White or Ceramic Black.
software
The P40 series ships with EMUI 10.1 operated by Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) and based on the Android 10 source code. Due to ongoing sanctions by the United States against Huawei, international P40-series models do not ship with or support Google Mobile Services - the proprietary suite of software (including Google Play branded software) that ships on certified Android devices . Since the P40 series are the first Huawei devices to run EMUI 10.1, they also mark the introduction of Huawei's own voice assistant, Celia, due to the lack of the Google Assistant. Celia contains a “Hey Celia” function that triggers an audio search.
Huawei is promoting the use of its own in-house platforms as replacements, including the Huawei AppGallery Store (which is already used on Chinese models of Huawei devices as Google doesn't do business there). Huawei said it will make a $ 1 billion investment to fuel AppGallery's software development and growth. As with other Android devices, third party apps can still be loaded side by side via APK files, although full compatibility is not guaranteed if the app depends on Google services.
