Hubert Beck (* 1949 ) is a former German basketball coach .

career

Beck was a player at FC Schalke 04 and later took over the coaching position for the "Knappen".

In 1991 he switched to TuS Herten as a coach and in 1995 led the team from the 2nd basketball league to the basketball league . Among his players in the promotion season was the later NBA coach Erik Spoelstra . In 1997 the team was renamed Ruhr Devils and moved to the Arena Oberhausen . Beck was replaced as coach by Dan Palmer in January 1998 , a month later the "Teufel" went bankrupt.

From 1998 to 2000 Beck trained Bundesliga club Brandt Hagen and then SVD 49 Dortmund in the 2nd Bundesliga. From 2003 he worked again as coach of FC Schalke 04: In 2004 he led the team from the Regionalliga to the 2nd Bundesliga and initially remained in office until the end of the 2006/07 season. In November 2007 he returned to Schalker Bank as a trainer and replaced Keith Gray ; in February 2008 Beck gave the position to Boris Kaminski for health reasons  . From April 2008 Beck was the sporting advisor to the "Knappen", in January 2009 he was again S04 coach after the team under Kaminski's leadership in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA  had only won four wins from 16 season games. Beck couldn't prevent the descent. He then looked after the team until the end of the 2009/10 season in the regional league.

Beck retired from school in 2013; he had been a teacher at the Annette-von-Droste-Hülshoff-Gymnasium in Gelsenkirchen since 1975.
