Boris Kaminski (born September 26, 1977 ) is a German basketball trainer and official.

career

Until 2000, Kaminski played basketball at GV Waltrop and coached youth teams at the same time. From 2000 to 2005 he was active as a player and trainer in Cologne, while studying sports science with a focus on training and performance at the Sport University Cologne . From 2005 to February 2008 he coached the men's team at GV Waltrop in the regional league. In February 2008 he took over the coaching position at FC Schalke 04 in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA . In January 2009 it came to a separation, at this time the "Royal Blues" were on the bottom of the table.

Beginning with the 2009/10 season, Kaminski was the head coach of the Hertener Löwen on the bench. In his first year he led the team as second in the table in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB for promotion to the ProA. However, nothing came of the leap into the ProA, as the lions were not granted the license for the second highest class. In 2010/11, Herten reached the ProB playoff quarter-finals under Kaminski, and the semi-finals were reached in 2011/12.

In the run-up to the 2012/13 season, Kaminski moved to the Dragons Rhöndorf (also ProB). Despite a lack of athletic qualification (elimination in the playoff round of 16), the dragons were awarded the right to play for the ProA with regard to the 2015/16 season and thus left the ProB upwards. In 2015 he became a member of a joint elite sports committee of the German Basketball Federation , the Basketball Bundesliga , the 2nd Basketball Bundesliga and the regional associations, which advised the leagues and associations. In January 2016, Kaminski resigned from the position of head coach in Rhöndorf. Under his leadership, the Rhöndorfer had so far recorded two wins and 16 defeats in the ProA. Two months after his resignation as a trainer, Kaminski returned to the dragons and took up the post of managing director of sports at the operating company Dragons Marketing GmbH. On July 31, 2017, he resigned from this position to accept a professional offer outside of basketball.

In the summer of 2017 he was an assistant coach on the staff of the German A2 national team, which represented the German Basketball Association at the 2017 Summer Universiade in Taipei .
