Hubert Bennek (born February 1, 1903 in Ratibor , Upper Silesia , † October 25, 1944 in Essen ) was a German metallurgist and ironworks director.

Life and work

After completing his studies in metallurgy at the Technical University of Breslau and Technical University of Berlin- Charlottenburg, Benneke became an assistant at the research institute of Friedrich Krupp AG in Essen in 1928 . He was employed in the steel works of the Friedrich-Alfred-Hütte in Rheinhausen for around a year , then in 1939 he was entrusted with the management of the research institute and in 1940 he was appointed authorized signatory . When he was appointed department director in 1941, Benneke was in charge of the research institute in Essen and, since 1944, of the entire research of the Krupp group .

Hubert Bennek supported the ironworks innovatively in his scientific work, as the around 60 publications prove; Investigations into the form of sulfides in different alloys and heat treatments or through the determination of notched impact strength at low temperatures (the Bennek test ).
